Dr. Ron Tripp
Dr. Tripp is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is a chiropractic physician with over two decades of experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of spinal conditions and neck and back injuries. He is a Court Appointed Independent Medical Examiner and has testified as an Expert Witness. He has also testified before the Oklahoma Legislature on behalf of the chiropractic profession.
Serving Norman and the surrounding communities since the 1980's, Dr. Tripp has been the treating physician for local residents and athletes at all levels including Olympic Champions, Professional baseball and football stars, and Collegiate National Champions and All American's. He has treated entertainment superstars in the music industry for over two decades and serves as the Director of Medical Services for the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater, Oklahoma's legendary venue for concerts and entertainment. He is an associate team physician for the Oklahoma Redhawks of the Texas Rangers Baseball Organization.
Dr. Tripp is a community leader holding several professional positions and serving on numerous committees representing Norman, Oklahoma at the state, national, and international levels. He served as President of the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Association and was elected 7 times to the President position by his professional colleagues. In 1996 the Oklahoma Speaker of the House appointed Dr. Tripp to serve on the State Physicians Advisory Committee for the Workers’ Compensation Court and he Co-Authored the Workers Compensation Treatment Guidelines for Neck and Back Injuries for all injured Oklahomans. He was a contributing author to a nationally published paper on spinal injury with Dr. Art Croft of the Spine Research Institute of San Diego, a world leader in the study and treatment of traumatic spinal injuries.
In 1997 Governor Frank Keating appointed Dr. Tripp to the Oklahoma Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He has since been reappointed 3 times, recently by Governor Brad Henry, and has been elected to serve as the Board President 12 consecutive years by his Board members. The Board of Chiropractic Examiners serves as the public protection agency for the state and administers licensing examinations and establishes standards for practice competency.
Dr. Tripp has represented Oklahoma on the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards and National Board of Chiropractic Examiners since 1998. In 2003 the members of the FCLB elected him to the Directorship of District IV. The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards is a regulatory advisory organization comprised of licensing and regulatory agencies worldwide. The FCLB Executive Committee elected Dr. Tripp as Chairman of the Board in 2008. In his efforts with the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, he works to ensure the highest levels of testing for the profession at the university and post graduate levels remain at the highest standards of compentency.
In his own personal endeavors Dr. Tripp is an accomplished athlete who brought home a gold medal as the FIAS World Champion in 1994. He was a 7 time world Medalist and 8 time Olympic Festival Medalist including an Olympic Festival Gold. He has won over a dozen National and Pan American championships and was named Athlete of the Decade by the Oklahoma Judo Association for both the 1980's and 1990's. He was recognized by the Daily Oklahoman as Oklahoma's Most Outstanding Athlete and winner of the first Bart Conner Award. Dr. Tripp served as an Assistant Coach for the University of Oklahoma Wrestling program for over a decade and helped OU produce numerous National, Olympic, and World Champions.
Following his competitive career Dr. Tripp was elected President of USA Judo in 2000 and represented the United States as Head of Delegation at 4 World Championships and the Athens Olympic Games. He currently is President of North and Central America and Vice-President of the Pan American Judo Confederation. In 2007 the International Judo Federation presented him with it's most prestigous award, the IJF Medal of Honor, for his contributions to the sport.
